The Financial Portfolio stack (version 4.1) lets you keep track of your accounts (assets and liabilities) & investments and allows you to calculate your net worth, capital gains, etc. This is a significant revision to the last version uploaded to America OnLine (version 3.92). If you own previous versions of the stack (3.0 and above), you can import the information into this one.
Improvements from version 3.92:
- can store, edit and graph a listing of values of your details, index and custom reports as well as net worth and stock portfolio totals
- can record and calculate holdings (such as currency, gold or silver) whose value is determined by a known (and probably variable) conversion rate
- can use any symbol for currency (e.g., $, ú, ó, etc.)
- extensive importing and exporting capabilities
- more versatile ╥Tools╙ palette
- optional multiplier for stock price entry
- ability to filter out selected details from navigation menus
- more versatile stock performance graph
- ╥Quick Update╙ ability to rapidly enter current balances
- rate of return for securities
- can optionally list capital gains in IRS format
- Transaction Dates stock report
- numerous interface enhancements and a few bug fixes
Requirements:
1) HyperCard 2.1 or above (limited testing shows compatibility with the HyperCard Player) ╤ because of some periods of rather intense memory requirements, you should assign at least 1600K to the HyperCard application or Player with the ╥Get Info╙ dialog of the application icon with the application closed (2000K or more would be even better). The HyperCard╒s Color Tools stack is NOT used, so you may remove the Color Tools from the Stacks In Use to make more memory available.
2) Put the ╥ÑPortfolio resources2Ñ╙ stack in the same folder as the main Financial Portfolio stack; if you don╒t, you will be asked with a dialog box to search for it if it is required (see below.) If you still have the ╥ÑPortfolio resourcesÑ╙ stack from a previous version of this stack (before v3.92), remove it from the hard drive and replace it with the new ╥ÑPortfolio resources2Ñ╙ stack as the resources have been updated. While you may rename the main Financial Portfolio stack to whatever you want, DO NOT RENAME the ╥ÑPortfolio resources2Ñ╙ stack.
3) This stack makes extensive use of WindowScript, a HyperCard add-on from Heizer Software that allows the creation of custom windows and dialog boxes. If you own WindowScript and have it installed in the hierarchy, the stack will ignore the WindowScript resources in the ╥ÑPortfolio resources2Ñ╙ stack and use those in your own WindowScript stack. If you╒ve never heard of WindowScript, you obviously don╒t have it installed; in this event, the stack will automatically place the ╥ÑPortfolio resources2Ñ╙ stack in the hierarchy upon opening and remove it upon closing.
Note: if you use ╥Greg╒s Buttons╙ or some other utility to change the System font to one other than Chicago, some parts of the stack may not be as readable as they should. If this occurs, exclude ╥HyperCard╙ or ╥HyperCard Player╙ from the effects of that utility.
